Cognitive Load Theory
...
This clip explains cognitive load theory and how to use its principles in the classroom.
Cognitive load theory refers to the fact that working memory has a limited capacity and helps us understand how we can maximise its capacity to ensure children are able to learn new knowledge. This clip explores how we can use cogntive load theory to avoid overloading working memory and to ensure that children's working memory is taken up with the knowledge we want them to retain as opposed to extraneous load.
