| Use of aria-hidden attributes | Homepage | Hidden content may affect screen readers | 4.1.2 |
| JavaScript jump menu behaviour | Video library | Auto redirect may affect accessibility | 3.2.2 |
| Videos without captions | Across the site | Some of our existing video content does not include captions or subtitles. This may make content inaccessible to users who are deaf or hard of hearing. We have assessed that retrospectively adding captions to all existing video content would represent a disproportionate burden. However, captions will be included for all new video content going forward. | 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded) |
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
- Adding alternative text to all images and media
- Ensuring all forms have properly associated labels
- Improving colour contrast across all pages
- Ensuring full keyboard accessibility
- Adding proper page structure and headings
- Defining correct language attributes
Disproportionate burden
Some accessibility improvements, such as adding captions to all existing video content, have been assessed as a disproportionate burden due to the cost and scale involved. We are committed to ensuring that all new video content includes captions.
